Oceanic Thrill Seeking

(me, underwater, in extreme close up.)

Here are some select shots of some of our watery exploits while living at Waimanalo... some underwater shark ones from mine and Keiths birthday weekend and some boogieboarding ones (2 days worth), also taken with an underwater camera. After being used to using a flashy digital camera with a large viewing screen, using the water cameras proved to be really tricky, expecially while trying to orientate and steady yourself in or under the water while battling the waves!
Marisol and Devon take the plunge
A huge 12' tigershark shows off its beautiful namesake tail markings
A nice profile of a what I think is the big Galapagos shark. This was a 12' beastie.
A small (5') sandbar shark swims up right in front of the cage, and I do my best to resist giving him a belly rub! To the bottom amd left of the picture you can see 3 more sharks and get an idea for just how many there were swarming around us (flippin' LOADS!)

Just look at the moody sky in this one... a huge storm rolled in but we carried on boarding and it was really exciting doing it in the thrashing rain.

Keith comes tearing in towards me and Devon gets sucked into the wave in the background...

An excellent photo taken by Devon of me riding a big roller with Keith hot on my heels

BOSH!
Devon gets wiped out in style. And I get my face smashed in while trying to get a dynamic shot (waves are kind of hard to monitor when you're concentrating on your subject through a tiny viewfinder at the same time as trying to stay upright in the water!!)

One of my favourite action shots- me and Keith simultaneously ride the same wave, me bursting out of its barrel and him about 4 feet above me in the crest. Wicked fun (as I recall, there were eventual collisions, too). The original pic isn't quite as white and distorted as this but I think it looks kinda cool.

The result? Very happy water bunnies!!
